We have had a crazy few weeks since my last post. The combination of house restoration works and getting our holiday cottage business restarted (after the release of holiday business from the Covid 19 Lockdown) has kept us fully occupied. We have managed to keep our vegetable garden working, if a little unkempt, and have been really enjoying meals of the freshest of vegetables. Both M and I celebrated our birthdays by downing tools for the day and simply relaxing and enjoying our home. From a business point of view we have spent time improving the way we run things. Time spent on cottage maintenance e.g. repairing damaged paintwork has been rewarding and we think the place looks fantastic again. Unfortunately our lovely cleaner has used her furlough time set up her own holiday rental company by converting an outbuilding, we wish her all the best and have shared copies of all our documents etc to help her get started. We have decided to take on our own turnarounds, at least until things settle down, and have fully reviewed all our cleaning processes. We have introduced specific disinfection steps to reduce the chances of transmission of infection between guests, and have been working with our suppliers and the laundry to make sure we have safe processes in place. We have set up a business website Fenaycottage.co.uk so that we can share our guides and other information electronically rather than via the paper handbook we usually leave in the cottage, it will also allow us to share current information about the area.
